CELL SORTING: FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE

Dear All,
The second course of flow cytometry of “wet” type focused on Cell Sorting and entitled “CELL SORTING: FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE” ended last 25 November 2022. This practical course has also received a very positive evaluation from the 6 participants who have generally promoted with flying colors many aspects of the course such as the overall assessment, the quality of the teachers and the adequacy of the available equipment and technologies.
Among the more specific comments, we point out the following that we publish with the permission of the participants themselves:

  1. Clear teaching methodologies with trained and available teachers and tutors.
  2. Presence of “ad personam” tutoring.
  3. Possibility of following the whole process from sample preparation to sorting and purity analysis.

Among the suggestions (which we will certainly consider) to improve the course in the next editions, we point out:

  1. Add more complex panels.
  2. Increasing the initial theoretical part in the first few days.
  3. Sorting of less represented and rare populations.
  4. Interfacing with the participants before the start of the course to plan sorting experiments close to the needs and projects of the learner.

We thank the participants for allowing us to make public their evaluations and their suggestions and we are already working for next year.

Thank you

Silvia Della Bella and Domenico Mavilio

DRAWING AND VALIDATION OF PANELS FOR MULTICOLOUR CYTOFLUOROMETRY

The first course of flow cytometry of the “wet” type was concluded and was very well received by the participants who evaluated the course in a very positive way as a global judgment, as quality of teachers and as adequacy of the available instrumentation and technology.

Among the more specific comments, we point out the following that we publish with the permission of the same participants:

  1. Excellent balance between theory and practice. Excellent setting for the realization of the complete process of sample preparation and analysis of the sample. Constant tutor support for each individual participant.
  2. Appropriate teaching material provided in a timely manner. Perfect integration of the participants that compensated for their heterogeneity of origin and formation. “Wet” sample preparation very useful to understand the complexity reaction of the panel.
  3. Extreme willingness to clarify every doubt with the highest competence of teachers and tutors.
  4. Clarity in the theoretical part; competence of teachers; availability and kindness.

Among the suggestions (which we will certainly consider) to improve the course in the next editions, we point out:

  1. Organizing a course entirely centered on flow-jo.
  2. Inquiring beforehand about background participants.
  3. Spending additional time on basic concepts and panel construction.
  4. Organizing a course focused on computational analysis to deepen interpretation results as “unsupervised”.

We thank the participants for allowing us to make public their evaluations and their suggestions and we are already working for next year.

In the meantime the “wet” Advanced Course entitled “CELL SORTING: FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE” is in progress and will end on November 25th. We’re also publishing next week the attendee ratings for this thing.

Thank you
Silvia Della Bella and Domenico Mavilio

LATEST GENERATION CITOFLUORIMETRY: THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL ASPECTS AND ANALYTICAL METHODOLOGIES IN THE BIOMEDICAL FIELD

Welcome back to everyone,
we show you the outcome of participants’ evaluation of the last Last Generation Cytometry course, organized by the Flow Cytometry Academy, held in Milan from 26 to 30 September 2022.
We are extremely satisfied with the outcome of your evaluations, which had a very high approval rating for the different items.
We thank you for all the advice you gave us in order to improve and optimize our training offer.

We are already working on the 2023 edition, which will see ‘some news’ that we are developing thanks to your feedback.
We will publish soon (before Christmas) a draft of the future program to ask for your feedback and to possibly insert further specific contents in case there is a particular interest.
